WDBQ-FM Logo Revamp
As part of a relaunch effort to improve the station’s performance, WDBQ-FM was slated to receive a new logo. The process began with various concepts:

KLYV Logo Revamp
As a very successful brand, KLYV stuck with what worked for a long time, but eventually, the station started to feel stale. After freshening the sound of the station, we turned to the visual brand.
As one of Iowa’s oldest cities, Dubuque is a market obsessed with heritage. This extended to the radio station as well — even though the station had been branded as “Y105” for two decades, much of the market still referred to it as “K-Live 105,” the previous brand name. Tapping into this vibe, I was asked to use the “Y” from the classic K-Live 105 logo in these concepts I created:
In the middle of this process, I was offered another job and left the station, so our logo work never got past the concept stage.

Unused Station Logo Concepts
As often happens in the design process, logo ideas are often discarded in favor of other choices or because the project didn’t move forward. Here are a few unused designs:
